Welcome to ‘Koh Phangan On My List’ – Your Ultimate Koh Phangan Travel Guide!

“At ‘Koh Phangan On My List’, we are passionate travelers who fell in love with the natural beauty and vibrant culture of Koh Phangan. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, our goal is to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive guide to this stunning island”

Ok, the above is a bit stiff and also slightly falls. This website isn’t a WE thing. My name is James and I am the one behind this website. From creating the website (which took forever because I had no technical skills), to writing and the photography, I am the one behind pretty much everything

Way back in 2019 I traveled around Thailand for months. It was an amazing adventure that took from the bustling streets of Bangkok and an authentic train ride up to the north. A tiny scooter loaded myself and girlfriend and all our backpacks somehow survived a ride around the remote regions in the north east.

Visiting the islands

Obviously the islands in Thailand were high on our bucket list. Our adventure, like many other backpacker’s adventures, began on Koh Tao. It is the first island on the way down so it only makes sense that everyone begins from there.

Koh Tao was nice, i definitely suggest you visit if you have the time. But it was Koh Phangan that got us excited. We weren’t excited for the gorgeous tropical beaches or the laid back island vibe or fancy resorts. We were almost in our mid 30’s and the full moon party was high on our bucket list. A bit old, yes, but it was fun and felt so wrong because it is just crazy and so many dangerous things happen. I actually climbed a structure that was drenched in gasoline and later on burnt down.

There is no way to search anything about Koh Phangan and not find out about the full moon party. It’s like the 2 are synonymous.

So it comes as no surprise that the majority of tourists considering visiting Koh Phangan have some really wild assumptions about the place. “Koh Phangan is just a party island” and “probably loads of drunk backpackers everywhere” or “people just go there for that stupid party on the beach”

Why I created this Koh Phangan Blog

I created this travel blog because there are so many misconceptions surrounding the island and what to expect and I wanted to showcase what this island paradise has to offer. Because what you’ll find goes far beyond the full moon party (which by the way is just a 1 night monthly event).

In this travel blog you’ll find everything you need to know about Koh Phangan. From how to get to Koh Phangan, where to stay in Koh Phangan and things to do in Koh Phangan. I also wrote a blog about why Koh Phangan is an amazing place for a honeymoon. I obviously fell in love with this island which is also known as sticky island due to the large amount of people spending their entire holiday here or just ending up living on Phangan for months – like myself between 2023 and 2024.
